... I've managed to squeeze in a handful of hunts. Numbers have been spotty, but persistence has more often than not paid off.
Yesterday's hunt yielded my first mixed bag bounty. Gunner pointed three separate covey of quail, numbers totaling in excess of 35. Each covey got a pass, no shots, so that we could ensure sufficient numbers (for me that means 8+ per covey) before potentially taking some out. Working the dogs back over them was a blast, and we managed to bag three.
The kids did great!
This hen didn't want to fly in the wind. She was released unharmed.
Trying to figure out how to capture, infield, solo hunting moments.
Yesterday's mixed bag.
Heading back out tomorrow afternoon, hoping some snow will stick!
