Best GPS fence system?

Hi all,

We have a pup arriving in a few weeks. Eventually we will want a wireless containment system. I had one of the first GPS based boundary collars on the market some 11 years ago. It was terribly inconsistent so we ended up not using it. Thankfully my lab was not a wanderer so I never bothered with replacing it. I'm sure the technology has come a long way. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm not sure how they work these days. With my old one you marked central gps coordinate and then set the allowable distance away from that point, so it was a circular perimeter. We have 14 acres and it would be great to have the boundary not be limited to a circle and actually follow my property line.

From what I understand, the gps fences are still inferior to the underground ones. Also, my advice is to not put your 14 acers inside the fence. I put about 6 acers inside my 1st one. They just had a lot more area to get in trouble. They would hunt and eat baby rabbits. At night when they would go out and hunt coons, cats etc. Sometimes they wouldn't come back in, so I'd wind up walking the entire 6 acers with a spotlight, only to find them sitting under a tree waiting for a cat to come down. I now have about 3/4 acer inside. They get just as much exercise and at least now when they don't come in, I can easily find them.
