I'm wanting another bird dog and looking at a started dog. Anyone have a berg brothers setter. I spoke to them and possibly going to get one. Any other breeders you might recommend.

Ive have no experience personally with them but somewhere around a million times have I seen them recommended by others. I dont think you could do better than them. Seriously

First question you have to ask yourself is what you're looking for in a hunting dog. I looked at the Berg Brothers website and they raise field trail setters. My personal preference is for good foot shooting dogs that work closer to the gun and I don't care for the big running field trial stocks.

That is a good thought. I am looking for a dog that works closer. I don't generally hunt big country but a couple times a year. I have not commited to anything but have heard on various forums about there dogs. I do want a started dog. Never had one before but am tired of going through several pups to get what I want in a dog. Also kind of in a bind this year with one of my main dogs passing. I realize a started dog want be where she was but hopefully a lot farther ahead of the game than a very young pup. Also I am Leary of getting a dog from somewhere I've never seen. That's kind of why I mentioned them. I've heard they have a good reputation

Just wanted to let y'all know. I got a setter pup. A guy in SC has a kennel called Sarrah Setters. Got one of his started dogs. I've heard nothing but good things about his kennel.

I live in Greenwood. about an hour and half south of Greenville and about the same from Columbia. The setter I got came from Aiken from Mark Fulmer
