Bad timing(or good)

Me and the boys were loading up this morning to head west for a couple of days when I noticed that the right front tire was bad:mad:. Sucks that we aren't going to be able to go but atleast I noticed it before we left and had a blowout:confused:. Good luck to BrownDog, wish we could have met up.

The 400 bucks that it is going to cost just to replace the front two has chewed up my hunting allowance. We'll still get out locally and maybe even a day trip somewhere. Just won't be making the 5 hour drive to get to "good" pheasant territory.

Dangit man! That's enough to set a fella off. The good news is that gas prices are falling for the moment and there is another full month of season. Speaking of which, January hunting in KS is awesome:cheers:

I am planning to start getting back out some. Had the pup on the IR for about 10 days, and I felt under the weather for a couple day.

But Christmas is over, and I don't have to be back to work until 1/2/13.

And my tires were new this summer, it just the 200K+ miles on the truck that I should worry about.

Im headed out tomorrow with two friends to hunt through Sunday. My whole family has been sick, and so far I had avoided it. I've been getting sicker as the day goes on. My wife says I can't go. I am going, as long as I can get out of bed, both of my friends took these next two days off to go with me. I told here if I die the life insurance is paid up. Seriously, I sure hope I don't feel as bad tomorrow as today, fever is 101 now. Maybe the fresh crisp air will do me good............

Jet, just glad you weren't on the highway when it happened. If you still want to get the boys out we can meet here and take my truck out west. Day trip. Could probably do Fri. Or Sat.

Me to.
I might be able to do something friday. I'll give you a call tomorrow.

fsentkilr,

Good luck, hope you get to feeling better. I'm sure it's nothing that a few roosters won't cure.

I feel your pain, Jet.:( I put a good chunk of coin into truck repairs this year, and now it feels like the shocks might be due for replacement... It's always something...

I hope you are able to get out and find some birds!

I am really torn right now. Go shoot a field full of Canada geese or hit a river full of mallards! Upland doesn't even come into the picture when this is going on!

While the action would be a nice change of pace compared to my upland experiences this year, I would not feel good about stomping all those ducks and geese into the mud. I suppose I might hunt them some if i could stomach eating them.:D

but I'm glad that you enjoy it!

you need to try goose and noodles......cut up your goose into bite size pieces, brown them in a skillet with redwine vinegar.....use any packaged, flavored noodle dish, simmer noodles and goose and serve...excellent!

That sound excellent!

I like to marinate them in Italian dressing for at least 24hrs then put them on the grill!

Or, make them into jerky. Best jerky ever!

Most overcook waterfowl hence the bad taste. Waterfowl should be cooked no more than medium rare. Overcooked they dry out and get a strong taste, similar to that of a prairie chicken that has been over cooked.
