Are there any birds left?

I drove through Dumas 4 times in the past month and didn't see a single pheasant. The crops looked good though. In the past I would always see at least 5 diving through. I did see a farmer cutting all the wild grass around his crops. I couldn't figure why he would do that.
 
We Kansans are asking this very question - with fingers crossed and/or hands in prayerful supplication.

I am just bellyaching here. I just can't wait for Kansas to be great again. The people are so nice and the fees and rules are good too. I don't want to stop going to Kansas.

We did pretty well last year on public land. 8 hunters opening weekend we ended up with 39 roosters and 11 quail...the years before that were rough..last year left me encouraged about this year .
 
that's real good IMHO. think this year might be about the same, depends on where the rain falls.........

Hunter94 from what i heard from the members of my bird dog facebook group that live in north central kansas area is that the cover is very very nice and that they may be seeing some birds lol
