I will be heading that way in November and was wondering if the Bad Habit Sports Bar and Grill is back open?? Angie, the owner had it torn down last year and when we were out there Nov 08....we usually stay in the Budget host (now Americas Best) which is right across the street (nice place to eat and drink and then stumble  I mean walk back across the street....

No idea, but Maynard will get to this sooner or later.
I am going to be in Kansas soon and wonder if I can openly wear my sidearm in Dodge City. If not, is the concealed carry permit from SD valid in Kansas?
So many questions --too few answers.

I lived in Dodge City in the summer of 2002 for an internship I was doing in college. Ate at the Bad Habit probably 3 out of 4 nights a week that I was in town. I think Maynard said they were closed down a few months ago, but don't know about right now.

Went by there on the way out of town today to see what was happening. There has not been any work being done for awhile, but today the brick masons were working. Here it is-

When it opens I will have to try it. You know, I have never been in there. I do not eat out often, just Casa Alvarez after church on Sunday, then maybe the Pizza Hut noon buffet during the week.

If you eat at Casa and get the fajitas, try the meatball soup that comes with it. If it is your birthday you will get a free sopapilla delight, which is a sopapilla filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with strawberries. Here is my mother on her 94th.

One of the best ribeyes in town will be on the north end at Ham's Bar & Grill. I have never been there, but had his ribeyes at events he catered. He now has a location in Bucklin also.

Some people are just home bodies and eat at home, that includes me.

Oh, forgot to mention the casino that is scheduled to open mid December.

Bad habit?

With a name like that I thought we were talkin libaitions and liberal college lasses in longerie. That's ok... I think will be in NW KS only.

thingy needs a speller checker

You now been going out there since 1996 and I never did venture out much to eat anywhere else until last year because the Bad Habit was closed...so finally ate at Casey's Cowtown...pretty good steak...ate at Pizza Hut before and used to eat at Peppercorn's until it changed hands...so a casino is opening up?? I thought they could only open on resevations? Is there one there in Dodge?

I just hope that the Bad Habit is open come 20 November....thanks for the udpates and pics...:coolpics:

No, Kansas allowed it as a state owned casino(but not state operated). The other applicants in other locations dropped out because of the economy.

Peppercorn's took bankruptcy and Mike Casey, owner of Casey's Cowtown purchased it and changed its name to Delmonicos. I doubt if Bad Habits will be open by November 20th. I would sure try Ham's. Brent Cunningham is the owner. If you get to town, give me a call and I will venture out. Again, just an old home body.

I just called the chamber of commerce and the lady said that the Broken Spoke wasn't bad (used to be Silver Spur)...we are staying at the Travel lodge there on 50 right across from Pizza Hut....need somewhere that isn't to far a stumble...I mean walk...I don't drink and drive...

We used to stay at the Astro (was cheap, clean, and good folk ran it) then it went to Budget Host and now Americas Best...don't really like the guy who runs it now...so we changed for the first time this year...Travellodge has good rate, hope it is clean (meaning no bed bugs) and only one time $10 pet fee....

Si, senior....

The Broken Spoke is the old Spur Club which is on Spruce Street(1st street north of Wyatt Earp Blvd.), so it is north of the actual Silver Spur Motel and will be really convenient being a slow street(40mph or less on a calm night:)) Actually kitty corner from the back of the Travel Lodge.

You sure plan ahead, don't you?

ya I try to...I guess it is the Air Force in me as I am active duty...I live out in Colorado Springs, CO stationed at Peterson AFB. You say calm night...like there ever is one in Dodge during pheasant season....

As active duty, drinking and driving is a no no and I will be retiring from active duty 1 June 2010 with over 20yrs and I am not about to do anything stupid to jeapordize that....

Plus I like to help "stimulate" the economy......during these tough times....wondering if Obama hunts pheasants...;)
