Anyone go out after Prairie Chickens?

I did not get a chance to get out after PC on Sunday.
Hope that I can get out after them some in the early season.
In this part of the country, I consider a pointed and shot Prairie Chicken to be the pinnacle of dog work.

Did you get out, any PC spotted, pointed or shot?

I agree on the pointed PC being the pinnacle. I got out for one field this morning, not the best of weather for chickens. Had some good dog work on some quail, plus a teal off of a pond, that was about it. Hope to get back out this weekend.

I shot clays on Sunday, and thought very (very) briefly about going for a PC run this morning, but decided the ground was too soggy for my taste. Lazy, I know...

I have 5 days off beginning thursday. My plans are to chicken hunt with the pointers every morning and teal hunt with the lab every evening.

I have only shot a handful of chickens over pointing dogs over the years. I hope that I can at least find some quail to work anyway.

Now that is a plan.

I need to get off my fanny and ask permission to hunt some private ground.

I have gotten a few each year pointed and shot. But I walk 20 miles for every PC I get pointed and shot.

Went out on Sunday. Lots of walking..... we saw one chicken flush wild at 100 yards. The dogs did get some work on a covey of very young quail. Surprised they could fly. May go for a walk tomorrow morning too.

It's supposed to be a little cooler Friday here, so I think I will try to take the day off. Like to turn the dogs loose in some big open area and see what happens.
