Another quail hunt

I've decided to take as many days off as possible during this hunting season and so far I'm happy to have done so. Went for a quail hunt back home (E/C KS) and hunted 3 draws. Found a covey in each of the draws and took 2 birds out of each one. Tried to take a couple more, but shooting in the trees/heavy brush is difficult to say the least.

The highlight of the day was getting a double and having each of my male dogs pick a bird up and bring them back to my right and left hands....almost simultaneously. This made for birds 5 and 6 on the day and we called it quits. It was pretty dry out there but we had plenty of good points. My son got a picture of a wad coming out of Bret's gun and hopefully the bird he was shooting at. I'll find out when I upload the pics to the puter....after some college football. Get out while you can guys:cheers:

Me too !

Thinkin I may be sick with quailitis....went s of abilene and I took 6 quail and 2 roosters. 3 Dogs were rock stars...my little britt Ellie pulled a runner out a yote hole too. other 2 dogs too fat to fit. got up 5 coveys. Miss several more roosters. no pics too busy reloading. Group took 7 roosters 18 quail.

ps.. no bird lost... all recovered by my trio.:10sign:

Oh I fell I fever comin on!!!!

Sounds like a great hunt. I very nearly ended up in that area on Thanksgiving Day, but my cousin wanted to go back and hunt "that field we hunted on the youth opener that had all the birds" so that's where we went. Congrats on a heckuva day!

quail

coveys seem to be strong and growing in numbers, busted the same covey three days in a row on opening weekend in ottawa county, only took birds the first day but numbers were equal or greater the next two days
