Another day of Bird Frustration

Well the grouse did not work out yesterday, so figured I'd soothe my soul with some doves. Yeh right went east to Ramah SWA, saw a total 4 birds in 7 hours. Guess the cold front got the moving south. Oh well there is always tomorrow.

If anyone feels like getting out give me a call (502) 386-0226. I'm an early riser 0400 or so, don't be afraid to call early. I need to shoot at something soon :(.

No Grouse taken by me, but thats how it goes. Some years your covered up with em, and others you'd think their extint

Early Teal next weekend, hopefully that goes well, my Lab Katy needs some action

Opening Day

My opening day was pretty good. Lots of miles but managed to limit out. You have to walk slow and poke thorugh the light pines and aspen. Bones if you shoot me a pm I'll give you a couple of spots to go. One is in Eagle county and the other is near Salida. Either is not more than a few hours from CS.... Plus I can tell you a spot on Rampart... Few birds there but generally singles.... Need a 4x4 for the first two spots.....
For dove drive out to Bonney Res... Lots of land to hunt around there.

Thanks for the replies guys. Made it out again today. Finally found a spot for doves and looks like teal too as long as weather does not move them out. PM me if you want the area.

Good to hear you guys got in to some!!! I introduced both my pups to the gun Fri, Sat. Just let them run around out to 70-80 yds and would pop off my 20 gauge every so often. No ill effects. Got them in closer and repeated!!! No worries!!! Went out Sunday to hunt by Greeley and limited around 9 with Morning doves and shot 15 Eurasions as well!! Could of kept shooting Eurasions, but I had plenty to clean and eat! Finally shot 2 doves with 1 shot!!! I have doubled and tripled on doves, but it was always one shell per bird. I left the pups at home fearing too many people out there! It was a good choice!!!

Managed a pick of doves opening morning near Denver on Thurs & a Big, Fat ZERO near Co Spgs Thurs eve. Could have been in the money if I had the TIME to go all day much further east where I knew the birds were. No time to hunt the rest of the Labor Day Wknd w/a full slate of family plans. Oh well, at least the dog got a few first-of-season retrieves! We'll see if bird hunting travels or close-to-home archery elk wins the draw for next wknd...
