I was driving home from some business meetings in Dallas yesterday evening. (very glad to be back in Wichita) On the turnpike at mile marker 11--between Wellington and the state line--there were 2 roosters in the mowed grass between the road and the fence! I didn't get much chance to study them at 75 mph, but it looked like one was chasing the other towards the road. Perhaps mating rituals have begun.

That was the last place I expected to see pheasants. There was a hedge row that ran up to the fence relatively close by, but both sides of the hedge were green wheat.

Yep, they're looking for girlfriends now, showing off themselves. Me too. LOL:p

During "normal" years, there are more birds in that NC Ok/SC Ks area than most realize. I saw several in that same area, next to I35 one year on the way home from pheasant hunting out west.

years ago i used to live in enid ok. you could drive 30 min north and find phez everywhere. That was several years ago. always wondered why there was a strong pocket there.
