A great hunting dog story from The Saturday Evening Post

I picked up the July issue of Sporting Classics Magazine over the weekend. I had never read the magazine before, but it had a Setter on the front that looked just like Ox and it was nice and thick which meant it would kill a good deal of time whilst waiting at the hospital (had a baby girl on Monday).

The magazine featured a reprint of the story "Choice of the Litter" by Roderick Lull, with painted illustrations by Jim Killen. Both the paintings and the story were quite captivating to me. I would highly suggest picking up the magazine and reading the story.

Here is the Sporting Classics Website tease of the Story - http://sportingclassicsdaily.com/issue/june-18-2014/article/choice-of-the-litter

OK you got me. I read the intro to that story and shouldnt have. Now I need to go out and find that magazine so I can read the rest of the story.

By the way congratulations on your little girl!!! They grow up quick.

Congrats on the baby girl!

I enjoyed reading the intro to that story. Sporting Classics is generally a good read. I occasionally think about taking a subscription to it, but it seems like I barely read the magazines I'm already getting.
