Ended up buying an 828U at Cabelas recently. When they first came out I wasn’t a fan. It’s grown on me. Got the silver receiver. I shoot left handed and this gun can be shimmed every which way. I actually bought a left handed model-so the lever to open the gun moves from right to left. I know there are problems with the rib. Trigger group has been reported to have fallen out as well. Very light, which is nice for upland. Not recommended for sporting clays or trap. Safety is going to take a little getting used to. Nice wood set. Excited to try it out!

Does the safety auto engage when broke open? Or are you referring to those the cross bolt to Tang?

Actually one thing I didn’t notice on the 828u( yeah I’m probably the last to notice) is the buttstock/ frame connection, I assume it could come with a shim kit to aid in at least getting close in home fitting?

Yes there is a shim kit for cast and drop kinda like a semi auto. 40 or so different variations. The safety engages when broken open which is ok by me for hunting. It’s a nice looking gun and I mount it really well but I’m expecting it to go back for warranty work at some point during the first year based on what I’ve read on line. Fingers crossed that this isn’t the case. And the whole trigger group can be removed very easily. I upland hunt a lot, so the light gun is nice and a lot of shooting for me would be 4-8 shots a day which should be okay with the light gun and hunting clothing on. Time will tell.
