4 Year Old GSP Needs a new Home

My GSP Otis is 4 years old. My wife and I got him as a pup from Hard Point Kennels in Nuevo, CA. and have enjoyed having him in our lives. We are not hunters, but Otis will sniff out hidden tennis balls in a field and not quit until he finds it. He's not shy when I fire up my Harley. He's very obedient and takes command (voice and hand) very well. He wants to learn and likes structure. Another member of another forum stopped by today to evaluate him and gave me a pheasant wing to start working with. Otis was immediately interested in the wing and began sniffing. He will take the wing and hold it with a soft mouth. The hunter said that with a little formal training, Otis has potential as a hunting dog. Also, 4 years as a house-trained pet makes him a great companion, however I do not recommend that he be around small children.

We recently found out that we are expecting our first child and we don't trust him 100% with children. It was a hard decision to make, but we feel it would be best if we could find him a great new home where he will get to do what he was born to do. I've already reached out to the GSP rescues in CA but would prefer to find a permanent home right away.

Please, if anyone has any interest in adopting Otis or has any ideas or suggestions please reach out.

If anyone is interested, but cannot afford training I am willing to work with you on the cost! Zero cost for adoption to anyone who can provide an excellent home and life for Otis.

Thanks

Love the look of your dog. I'm commend you on making a tough decision and looking for a new home for your dog. Hope he ends up in a hunting home and gets to enjoy what he was bred to do!

Oh man what a hard decision, probably for the best.

Wish I was closer, I have been without a dog for two years now, that needs to change.

Are you still looking to rehome your gsp? If so, do you have pictures? We currently have a female gsp and would love to adopt a male :)
