Can't hardly stand it. Looking forward to seeing the old grass again, and walking some new stuff, with some new friends.

can't wait i'm starting to get things ready started working on dog trailer today and the dogs are ready they saw me hook up tp the trailer and started to go nuts same way with the dogboxes

Heck me and Little Turtle have been packed for a week now, truck fueled up and keeping sodas on ice. Mabe we kinda jumped the gun and got little too excited this year. Naa never to early to pack for a trip into the BEST STATE in America. Remember the old slogan " AH AH KANSAS ".

Is 30 boxes going to be enough for 3 days out around Quinter? Found a gun shop over here with a great deal on Winchester Super Pheasant shells, $8 a box. bought all they had.

confidence is the name of the game- you can't have to many shells

although my brother and his friend would argue about that

you see- they'd heard but never been to Kansas and never hunted over pointers- they had enough shells and ambition for 10 hunters-

so- crack of dawn I said you have to have 2 boxes each-
we parked- I said load up we'll likely not see the vehicle untill dark

they still talk about that first morning- both ran out of shells-

but! we still kid each other- they lugged full vests arround for the next 3 days- they were not going to be caught out of shells

I have always said- give me a hunter with lots of shells over a hunter with a few- he will shoot- the other will be too worried about missing

I too am getting antsy, I will be makin my first trip to Kansas, I have some private land to hunt that holds a lot of Phez! Me and my shag will be there!

bring lots of shells- nothing worse than someone who doesn't intend to really shoot- I've taken guys hunting- "why the heck didn't you shoot and empty your gun"

I don't like to miss-

I won't hunt with those types

give me a person who isn't afraid to empty the gun over one who is concerned with hitting,- and I'll show you one who has a blast and has nothing but smiles at the end of the day

I never miss anyway

Reminds me of a time dad and I hunted a hedge row. Only a 1/4 mile long or so, how many shells do you need? Half way through I ran out. Dad had to keep pitching me shells through the hedges. We busted a group of rosters from the front section then 5 coveys of quail down the mid-section. I make sure that I carry enough now days. Don't want to get in that situation again.

I was tought four birds four shells anything else is unacceptable ofcourse not having money as a child thats how it was now my sons on the other hand live by the rule if we can't hit them lets make sure the remember never to come back to this area 2 boxes each in one morning hunt last year good thing they pay foir their own shells

Happy Hunting Grounds Lookin' Birdy

Went to the Happy Hunting Grounds in NW to bag a turkey and saw lots of pretty birds we call pheasants.

Just saw this thread this morning......I'm very excited as well. The cool mornings will give way to frosty mornings soon with any luck. With the crops out and some decent weather, it should be a great opener:thumbsup:

I'm excited to, but our season is open now and grouse has been open for a month. I just got back from 4 days in ND Phez hunting and will go once more before KS season opens, if my setters leg heals.
Hang in there boys it won't be long.
