Finally figured out exactly what this gun is. Now I get to spend 350 bucks for custom dies!

If I'm correct? That's a 8MM Remington Mag necked to 30 Cal.

Nice Accu-Mark with a Carbon barrel. Although unique, I'm sure the 300 Ultra mag out performs it..along with your 30-378 WBY. Still a very nice gun, enjoy
 
Exactly correct ! The shoulder angle is different , 35 instead of 25. But I only paid $240 for it,because I knew it was going to cost some money for the chamber cast and custom dies and all the experimenting to develop some nice loads. Has a break on it also. Still don't know what I will do with two powder burning 30 cals.LOL

It's worth finishing it and it's flat out cool. Not everybody's got one and I like that.

Dies are in the mail!!!!! Been waiting a couple months for them and now I have something to do this Spring!! With all my Reasearch this gun is basically a 300 Jarrett and Have an idea now of where and what loads to start at. Also had one shell left that I measured and pulled the bullet and weighed the powder!! I know it will take a slow burning powder so I have a starting point!!!! I want to shoot 168 gr. TTSX but I am willing to change weights if it helps with accurracy at long range! I will have to dig into the Ballistic Coefficient's to be sure. 180 is probably better!!:cheers:
 
Should be a lot of fun, I built a 338-06 from scratch myself on a surplus Mauser, built a 30-06 also. Sold them both. Keep us posted on your developments.
 
OP, quick question. My 30-378 has a sear problem! It is not engaging all the time! Can I just replace the Trigger with a new Timney with new sear and be good???? Gunsmiths here do not want to touch it due to Liability!!
 
Sure the trigger isn't just out of adjustment? If it's set too light it could just be not engaging all the time. Has anybody fooled with it, trying to adjust it?

Installing a trigger is a little more then just a bolt in thing. Call Ahlman's in Morris Town Mn. They are very good..know their stuff.

No I am not!!! Took it to a gunsmith and 2 days later he called and told me to send it to Weatherby!!!!! When it did catch you could hit the bolt with a rubber mallett and it would release!!!!!:eek:

Adjusting a trigger is a very delicate thing. Years ago I tried to adjust one. Wow! one little turn and everything is messed up big time. Very sensitive to just a slight adjustment. Call Ahlmann's, they can help you out.
