HI i got a rescue dog, Lab 6 months ago who although had good breeding was basically just ran loose with no real training. A friend had purchased and breed her to his male, for a good breeding of pups.
She in a nutshell had an infection that had been the result of surgery in a rear leg after a car wreck. We thought we could clean out the infection, and rehab her, while she got training. She is eager ,and willing to learn, and has a home for life!
Labor day she got pancreatitis, and got real sick, the result of the infection taking over her entire system. The vet said to save her, her leg needed to come up( back leg).
That is done, and she is doing great, i still think , and will know more in a week, that she can handle easy terrain on pheasants. We have been careful in pushing her since the surgery to get her strength back...
Those of you who have seen or been is similar cirmcumstances let me know your opinions on 3 legged pheasant dogs!
She is 3 , and still very athletic, i think i wont be able to push her more than a hour in the morning, and perhaps another hour in the PM daily this fall?
