My buddy had his 2 dogs out for a group of 6 guys on Friday afternoon. His private ground that is a haven for wildlife. They got 9 birds but had many flushed out of range.
He called me Saturday morning and asked if I wanted to hunt with him after 1. He explained the group situation and I asked if they had dogs. He replied no and I said well that's good. He thought that was funny but he knows exactly what I meant. We hunted more of his private ground and got 14 birds. 3 guys talked the whole time or I am sure we would have shot more. They all had a great time and the 3 talkers were saying hunting with the pointing dogs was like watching "live scope" when fishing.
Today there was 5 of us but 1 more dog guy who brought 2. So we had 6 dogs for 5 guys. We hunted some new to me private ground which was about 320 acres of creek bottom , weedy waterways , and willow patches. We limited out in a hour.

The 2 guys who Hunted all 3 days were most thankful for the great experience. Plenty of birds and good dog work. One of them commented we may have found 20% of the birds we shot without dogs.

Amazing how many people talk, laugh and yell as they're walking cover. Generally a tip off in my mind, they've not hunted much for wild birds.

Forgot that one. Another favorite, despite being told to pay attention, hollering "where's the dog?" Usually as loud as possible cuz I won't answer.

I wish they wouldn't talk but I realize the guys are having a good time together. Some of the dog guys have guided at preserves and they aren't as quiet as I would like them to be. I do realize that guiding they need to entertain clients not just walk them around.
