2022 Opening Day

Beautiful crisp morning. Plenty of dew on the grass in SE IA. Most corn was harvested in the area. First field ended up with 3 roosters. Maybe 7 birds total seen.

Second field it started to heat up. No dew in grass. Found a covey immediately out of the car along a brushy creek. Two quail taken out of large covey. Lot of walking with touch scenting. Ended up getting 3 more with our limit reached!

Two guys. One dog. 6 pheasants and 2 quail. Have a great weekend!

Was that public or private? I'm guessing it doesn't matter if you find the right cover, right?

Hunted a few private pieces, one large tract of CRP and two dredge ditches with lighter grass. We put up our 8 man limit by 11:30, probably should have been done on the 2nd piece but misses happen. Saw more birds than expected, which is a great problem to have. Good luck everyone!
