Hello Fellow Dog Lovers

Despite the strange weather (even for Colorado ) we have had lately the rattlesnake season is close at hand. If you are getting this you probably know about our Snake Avoidance Course for your dog/s. This is a reminder that it is time to get your registration in ( attached ) for the June 8th or 9th course if you haven?t already. Whether you choose to participate or not or you may already be registered we ask that you help us spread the word to your family and friends so we can educate as many of our canine friends as possible. There are several attachments included for more information about our program and feel free to forward this. It is recommended that you get your registration and payment in because this year ALL preregistered dogs will be trained before the walk ins.

See You There,

We have run all 3 of our Weims through the Snake Avoidance Clinic - It is definitely worth it.

We have had 2 rattlesnake encounters with our "old lady" Julia - before and after the clinic. The first time, she initially jumped back when she heard the rattlesnake in the grass - my wife had a firm grip on the leash when Julia circled around to go after the rattlesnake. The second encounter was about 3 months after the snake avoidance clinic. Julia heard the rattlesnake on one side of the trail, then jumped to the other side of the trail, wanting to get as far away as possible. :10sign:

Dakota has been through 2x.

The puppy, Blitz, has been through one time - I thought that he would have to go back for some retraining, but the clinic left a lasting impression on him.

I helped out with the clinic a couple of years ago and was surprised by the number of stories of dog/rattlesnake encounters in garages.

Went to Strasburg today to do some dog training (Saturday 5/4/13) with my buddy Herb, and came across the rattlesnake below. It snowed on Wednesday, the high was in the upper 50s in Strasburg and the temps at night have been in the 30s ... be careful out there, and snake avoidance clinics are a good thing.

We left it hanging on the fence as a warning ... Right by the bird box. This was on land that we lease for training and tests/trials. Unfortunately, we have a trial out there next week - I will have to think that one over.

Since it has been so cold lately, this one couldn't have been out of the den for too long. Since they like to den up in large numbers over the winter, that would lead me to believe that there is a good chance that there are plenty more around. Even though both of my boys are snake broke, I wouldn't want to take the chance of one of them running over a rattlesnake going out on a retrieve.
