2007 Deer reports.

Lets hear em guys!! We know how the pheasant hunting went, lets see how everyone did on deer.

I'll Start.

East river started out great, we shot 2 bucks and 6 does the first day of the season. The second day I let all the riffle hunters push a nice 5x5 right under my tree.

(This guy was only a 4x4, but he's 20 inches wide and heavy as heck)

(Not a monster, but a good looking 5x5 for an archery kill)

I don't have any success pics yet, only pictures of deer still alive.

It seems there are some young gals in Dodge that can shoot straight.

MR, thought you'd never ask......all deer taken in Trempealeau Cty WI. I missed a doe and passed on 2, 8 points on my farm in Charles Mix.

This morning Iâ??m on stand and a doe comes through about 8:00. I was able to make a good shot on it and she dropped about 40 yards from where hit was. I figure my hunt is over as the action always seems to die down after all the commotion but I better be ready for the bucks since their activity levels is high during this phase of rut. About 15 minutes later (and cup of coffee in stand) here comes a buck right (decent size 6-8 point) on this doeâ??s trail (the one I shot). He stops in same place I shot doe and I know the yardage but I shoot and miss and off he trots. Well thatâ??s about it right? Wrong, 15 minutes after that here comes an even bigger buck. He is on the doeâ??s trail too so I am getting ready for shot. He goes right on same trail and I stop him with a grunt at same place of other shots. I brought my sight up a bit and let fly. The bucks runs off about 40 yards and stopsâ?¦.then tips over. Both the doe and buck were heart shots, shot standing in same place, ended up less than 20 yards from each other.

Here's story on photo with orange: 2 days after shooting the 2-deer in archery season I fell off my cabin roof and broke my nose. They reset it the day before gun opener, hence the nose cast in photo. The Monday after opener this 8 point walks under my stand on way back to bed. Everything AOk now.

Tough hunt the last weekend of Kansas rifle season. I was good though in that I had my two sons and their sons, who are four years old and ten months old in deer camp.
