20 gauge re-load recipe

I either run 7/8oz of nickle plated shot with 25.3 grains of Longshot at 1390 or 1 1/8oz with 24 grains of Longshot at 1250, depending on the time of year and the wad I use.
Most times however I can shoot the first .
75 FPS isn't a whole lot of difference with the same shot charge IMO if the payload is the same.

I shoot the 1oz loads for later season birds because i am using a different wad that patterns better at the longer ranges in the chokes i have in my 20.
I run a bigger shot in that load , so get a bit more energy on longer shots.
So, yeah, in this instanc eht e particular load patterns better at longer ranges than the other, but not actually because it is 1 1/8, because it is designed differently.
I don't use it that often , only when the birds have been running like crazy and flushing wild and won't hold for the dogs. I'm getting to danged old to keep up with those danged pointers !!
