Making my first trip to South Dakota this fall. 3 guys and a dog. We are thinking of heading to the Chamberlain area and heading a different direction each day. Thinking the first year is going to be a scouting mission. Any input on best places to stay? Not looking for anything fancy, planning on hunting public ground. Thanks!
 
Making my first trip up there too this year. Going after the opener. Waiting until it dies down a little. Going near the Gettysburg area. Just me and my Dad. Be a bit of a scouting mission. We do have one private area. Its 2 sections. Have to plant some trees for about half a day. In exchange for hunting the rest of the week. That's worth it to me. We will probably be hunting public as well.
 
There is a motel ( Days Inn I believe) across the river from Chamberlain in Oacoma right off of I-90. I stayed there a couple of yrs. ago while hunting in Chamberlain. Nice place and reasonable prices if you book reservation early.
