1st Pheasant Brood reported in SD

More broods in Charles Mix County
I was working some CRP and saw 2 hens with combined brood of better than 20 chicks. Could not be more than 1-2 days old.
Some speculate that hatch could be better than last year and I may agree becuase the amount of weeds I have on crop ground is tremendous. 3 foot high on some spots.
With ass much cover as is on the ground right now it will be hard to tell until August road surveys and cooler wet spring could be offset in a banner season. Main thing now is the temps are higher and it is drier across prime SD region.
