16 gauge no tox

Talked to a Kent rep and he said 16ga. Bismuth would start to be shipped to retailers in March. Able ammo was out of Rio bismuth load when I spoke with them just recently. I'm getting back into the 16ga now and went through quite a bit of no tox in 20ga. last season and just want to make sure I'm covered. Does anybody know who makes a decent 16ga load in steel?

As soon as the Kent bismuth shells are available I'll definitely give them a try. I used the Rio bismuth 12 gauge #4's during my SD trip in December, and was happy with the results.
For my trip this coming November I plan to use my 16 gauge at least part of the time, so the Kent's look like a decent option. Not sure I can see myself spending $45 bucks for a box of 10 Hevi-shot shells. (I'm assuming the Kent bismuth will be priced about like the Rio's)

Sporting Ammo in Palms, MI makes a very good 16 gauge steel round.

I used their 15/16 oz load in #3 steel for ducks before I started reloading 16 gauge steel. It was very effective. I found these shells to pattern better and perform better on game than the Federal steel loads.

I now load my own 16 gauge 7/8 oz #3 and #2 steel and both are effective for pheasants.

I am sorry, I do not know their prices.

I last bought ammo from them about 6-7 years ago. Since then, the original owner died and I think some neighbors purchased and are running the business.

Thanks for that info. I will get my hands on some of their steel load in 16ga. I will also keep my eye out for the Kent Bismuth. I was really stocked up on Rio Bismuth, but I sold all my ammo with my gun, which turned out to be a big mistake. I used to reload back in the day, had the Mec, and all the stuff that goes along with that. I'm too old and just don't shoot enough to get all set up in 16 gauge. I shoot trap and skeet with my grandson, and Wally World has 16s down here for $7.99 a box. Just easier to buy it. I read something a while back about Browning coming out with an ammo line for 16ga., but I don't know what to make of that. Have to wait and see.
