Took a buddy up towards Pomeroy and we scrapped out a two man limit. The birds were spotty . . . first field, 40+ birds, next two fields, 2 birds per.

Exceptional dog work . . . all roosters shot off of point. Shot 6 for 6 and had more roosters flushing as we were walking out of the last field.

Hello

Hello Nate,

Isn't that your friends dog that had the terrible mouth wound last year? Sure looks better in this photo!:)

Curious about water in your three fields. None? or was there some nearby on the field with 40 plus birds? Just curious if my hypothesis is holding true. I see they got some snow in northeastern Iowa but it didn't last long. Looking forward to that first powder and chasing roosters!:)

Were your birds today this year's hatch? My son and I have only harvested two roosters that would qualify as last year's birds. We have been living off of this year's production. What are your thoughts here?

Hopping a plane and why the short reply here.

No water on any of the fields. Unfortunately, I don't have too many with such.

Two of the six roosters shot yesterday where second year birds. Nice hooks on them!

And yes, that's "Deacon", who had the mouth wound last year. He's coming along as a bird dog. Had his best day by far yesterday.
