10 day forecast

Men; at long last the extend weather forecast has reached opening day; it sure has been a long time coming this year. It says partly cloudy 30 with a high of 50 & a 20% chance of rain for the Bucklin, Kansas area Saturday the 14th. My boots are oiled up, my gun is clean and the dog boxes are in the back of the truck. I think this is the most exited I have been for a season to open ever. In the past it was the # of birds taken; now it is getting to see friends, fellow teachers/coaches & former players that are the most important thing. Tomorrow I get to look forward checking on the Wellington forecast for Sundayâ??s hunt.

I'm looking forward to reading the reports on how you all do the 14th & 15th; if it ever gets here. I know I'm as bad as a kid waiting for Christmas.

Have a safe hunt and have fun;

Mike

You're not the only "sick" one around here! This is a place where we can express our excitement and not be thought of as weird. My wife makes fun of me a lot this time of year. She better get it out of her system b/c she won't see me for a couple months:p

I'm glad to see the forecast isn't calling for 70+degree weather. Let's hope the farmers can get their crops out in time! If I can ask a special favor from our creator.......please send a cold front to us in 9 days;)

AMEN Brother!!!

Last 2 years during opening week I quit early due to heat on more than one occasion. My black dogs get hot quickly.

On a positive note, there may be some water holes left out there for the dogs to get a drink and take a dip! Lots of late season moisture to fill up the mudholes.

I must agree that going back to the second Saturday of November for the Kansas opener is better because of the weather & more crops being out of the field. It is just hard to wait the almost extra two weeks this fall..

another positve note with all the moisture it should be better scenting condition for the dogs and we all know better scenting more bird in the bab...Now let's hope for less that 20 mph winds!!! calling for highs about 48 on the opener in rush county.

I spoke to the guy who won the Pass It On Gun-a-Week drawing out in Hugoton this morning...says they have lots of birds. Maybe even as good or better than they had 2 years ago!

Can't wait!

Its lookin like about the same forecast in Jewell county aswell, 48 is the high with a 20% chance of rain

Yea I've definitely got the "sickness" as well. Its hard to think about much else this time of year. I'm happy to report that the milo is coming out as we speak here in the harvey county area and actually saw a rooster flushing in front of a combine as I was driving home from wichita on I-135 today. Hopefully its coming out in the west and nw soon as well!

I wouldn't put too much faith in the 10 day forecast... I watch that forecast year-round for fishing purposes, and it is totally worthless outside of the 3-day forecast.

On Monday it rained all day with over 1" of accumulation on a 10% chance... Also, the forecasted wind direction for last Sunday (important for duck hunters) changed three times last week... That's just from this week!:eek:

That being said, I'm excited about hunting too. I hope you all find success in the fields... But if you're travelling I would pack for everything from baking heat to sub-zero, and rain and snow also...:eek: You never know what the weather might do next and neither do the bozos that get paid to predict it. :laugh:
