    New upland shotgun?

I own both a 12 and a 20 in benelli lite wt ' I have several other 12 and 20 ga guns. I find that for hunting wild birds anything the 20 can do the 12 can do better. The wt of the Benellis are virtually the same. Both around 51/2 lbs. both have been excellent and i would not buy...

Going to SD for a few days this fall. Not familiar with the nontoxic shells that are required in certain areas. What do others recommend for pheasants?

    The goofy one.

Sounds a lot like my GSP Sam who is now 13 years old. All he wanted to do was chase the females and run the fences until he was four years old. Was quite aggressive with other dogs even after he was neutered at 18 months. Threatened to do something bad to him on many occasions but never had...

    Getting Ready...

At 7o+I have taken my share of tumbles. One of my more memorable experiences I stepped in a hole which allowed my boot to go into the hole far enough that my toes were pointing upward and I could not pull my foot back out. wound up having to unlace the boot and pull my foot out of the boot ...

    Holster

I have used a belt butt holster several times and found it to be quiet handy to rest one hand or to warm one while still able to mount the gun quickly. Not at all in the way when not in use.

    Holster

Coyote Leather in grand Parrie texas makes a belt mounted stock rest which allows you to hold the gun in a quick mount position with one hand. Works very well so you can rest or warm either hand while walking. He is also a pheasant hunter who knows what works and what a hunter needs.

My GSPs are Clowning Doc Holliday and Big Nose Kate. Like the old western influence. Rawhides Clown is Grand father to Doc.

    Gun fire conditioning alone

A lot of good ideas which may or may not work with every dog. The main thing to do is to get the dog interested in smelling and chasing birds, any bird, and totally involved with having fun, then introduce the gun. I start with a 22 long rifle round fired from a rifle , Working on up to a...

    Outstanding or crazy dog story's

My weird story goes back to 1970 when my father, father in law, brother in law and I were grouse hunting in the NW mountains of NC. The weather was turning and starting to spit snow which turned into a 18" blizzard. We had my GSP Star and as we broke in to a small clearing we flushed three...

    Montefeltro fans

I have a 12 and a 20 both ultra lite, the 20 with 3 inch shells is no problem but the 12 lets you know you have fired it. The best news is at the end of the day you are not as tired as usual from carrying a heavy gun. The ultra lite is more money but I think it is well worth the difference.
