    Sweet 16 blows up using Boss ammo

    I have shot 2 cases of Boss shells between my SBE12 and my new style Sweet 16 with no problems.

    Wind

    Just got back from SD. We hunted one day in 25-40 mph winds. Found them in thick shelterbelts, cattails and deep roadside ditch surrounded by cattails. Worked out pretty good for us.

    Old roosters are tough, or tough roosters are old?

    Shot one 2 days ago with 28” tail and 5/8” spurs. Big ole bird

    That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

    Hunting in Kansas one time flushed a rooster, missed it, and watched it hit the power line at the end of the field. Walked to the end , picked it up and put it in the bag.

    It is perfect! Just wear a different hat out of the house, keep that one in your hunting bag until you are in you truck.

    Lack of hens

    In the area where I hunt, we saw more hens than roosters. It could have been that the roosters and hens were using different cover? There were oceans of wheat stubble and un harvested crops in the area that we couldn’t begin to hunt effectively.

    Did not see nearly as many birds yesterday. The cover was not nearly as good. Good cover and food = good birds!

    Yesterday ended up being pretty darn good too though it did get a bit warm. Hunted a variety of cover within about a 25 mile radius. Saw a good number of pheasants across the area. We did get into a few more quail, but certainly not like last 5 years. The roads are starting to firm up a bit...
