    Boss choke recommendation for Benelli

So I finally had time to pattern the Boss 20gauge, 3”, 1 1/8oz, #4, through my Benelli M2, Crio chokes. Pattern at 40 yds. Full choke averaged 142 pellets in a 30” circle. A little blotchy, but not bad. Boss claims 174 pellets for 1 1/8 oz of 4 shot. That gives about an 82% pattern. IM...

GB, they are from separate breeders that are trial guys. The dogs are uncle and nephew. Both from FC Steeple Hill Ranger lineage.

    Boss choke recommendation for Benelli

Thanks for the info. Yes, M1 is Mobil choke system. M2 is the crio choke. No need to count pellets. Maybe I’ll try my M2 and start with the IM.

    Boss choke recommendation for Benelli

Hi all, I am looking for a recommendation on what choke to start with for patterning some 20 gauge Boss 11/8 oz #4. I shoot a benelli m1 and m2. I thought I would start with a Full and go from there. Has anybody here done any pattern work with a Benelli and the Boss ammo? Thank for any...

    SW Nebraska

NEGP releases birds twice a year at select WMA in eastern/central NE. Once for a youth hunt a week before the season, and again around Thanksgiving in same areas to promote/encourage family hunting. These areas have few wild birds left unfortunately. They are not trying to enhance populations...

What is the best pair of boots you ever owned for hunting pheasants?

I bought a pair of Crispi Idaho GTX boots about 4 years ago. Highly recommend. Prior to those I had Danner Grouse. Great boots, comfortable, but they didn't hold up nearly as well as these Crispi's have. If there is deeper snow and it's really cold, I love my Schnee 13" Hunters.

How do things look after the 12/23 Midwest snow blow?

Munster, I would suggest looking at the Nebraska 511 Roads website/App. The road cameras will give you an idea of snow on the area you plan to visit. It is melting fast. Drifts in ditches and along shelter belts. It was much needed moisture in that country. Pray for more.

    Music

Night Riders Lament. One of my favorite JJW songs. Great one for driving dirt roads in pheasant country!

    Music

I am generally listening to something Americana: Grateful Dead, Robert Earl Keen, Jerry Jeff Walker, James McMurtry, Chris Knight, Willie, Tom Petty, Marshall Tucker, Skynyrd, etc. Love Classic rock in general also. Lots of good stuff out there and many new unknown musicians showing up all time.

Best choke for 20ga using pointing dogs

I shoot an IC out of my 20 all season on wild birds, and have for years. The only difference is I shoot 1 1/4 oz of #5. Your combo with #6 will work fine 35 yds and in.

No Federal Prairie Storm- Clear skies in MN

Bob, the Federal Premium High Velocity is basically the same load as the WingShok (at least in 20 ga.), just renamed. I have shot the Wingshok out of my 20 for years. Love it. Glad I have 2 cases in back stock at home! BTW, another difference, beside the pellets you mentioned, between the...
