Hunted hard today and bird numbers are definitely not where they were six years ago in the large swath of country I covered. Kocia can be a miracle worker when crp isn's available... In fact it may be better than Switchgrass or Indian grass. I agree there's less habitat but there's still good enough numbers out there to make a turn around if our government can make crp competitive again... I'm not holding my breath on...

and a big crp sign up... most of the crp in colorado now is corners and birds cant make a living in those in the winter... Particularly when its enrolled in walk in.

A pheasant is extremely rare around there... Please do some research before hunting around there and expecting to pull a trigger. If you really want sharptails look farther north in the Thunder Basin National Grasslands........
