I carry a leash, needle nose pliers, athletic tape, a few bandages, a hair pick for flicking cactus off of dogs, a stapler from my vet, wire cutters for snares which I have never used, and a bottle of the blue gel locktite for small cuts. In the truck i always have a clean bucket and a shovel...
yeah they are, pick one out of the covey. i kill plenty with 7.5's with skeet and improved cylinder on my 28. once you get the hang of the chaos of their covey rise just pick one on the outside of the covey
Another thing to consider is crop rotation and the length of the contract. Lets say a landowner enrolls ag ground for four years... there's a good chance three of the four years will be terrible hunting for gamebirds ( maybe good for deer) and one year the birds are great. I agree the system...
Hunted hard today and bird numbers are definitely not where they were six years ago in the large swath of country I covered. There’s also a ton of corn up and with all the rain I wonder when or if it will get picked. Hunted with four GSP’s two veterans and two rookies but they all can find birds...
Kocia can be a miracle worker when crp isn's available... In fact it may be better than Switchgrass or Indian grass. I agree there's less habitat but there's still good enough numbers out there to make a turn around if our government can make crp competitive again... I'm not holding my breath on...
and a big crp sign up... most of the crp in colorado now is corners and birds cant make a living in those in the winter... Particularly when its enrolled in walk in.
haha i hear you, I actually heard that on this same forum years ago and got a good chuckle out of it. My buddies and I rip on each others dogs, they told me last year my male was going to give everyone pink eye from the gas he had one night...
