How many birds do you shoot in a season?

Back to the yearly numbers. I got 31 phez year before last. I hope to pass that with ease this year with my travelling. I'm at 10 pheasants so far with my good trip next weekend.

How many birds do you shoot in a season?

^^This. Once the game is to your residence and processed it should be the same as any other food, not saying that's the law in you particular state but I feel it should be. Big Brother isn't regulating food storage...yet.

    Cold weather

A shovel and other "get me unstuck" things. I have found a 4-6' 2x4 to be extremely handy to have, it takes almost no space and makes a great lever, shovel, wheel chock, shovel all kinds of functions in a pinch and if you have any MacGyver in you.

Come on, no hero opener day pics posted yet???

What about the guinea fowl poking its head out behind the fan. Did you call that in too Goose, to your back door.

    Hanging birds

I most always hang my birds(pheasant) from the head, I have an attached porch that isn't heated so if/when its cold outside they stay above freezing, but barely. I usually hang 3-5 days and clean them when convenient(or I feel like it). I did have one hang for over a week with no ill affects. It...

SW ND: Lots Of Corn & Seeds Still Up

I was south of Mott a couple weeks ago and there were birds all over. The farmer where I was hunting said that the pheasant numbers were really good, that's what I found too.

    Sportdog brand sdt00-17110

You mean cut the slack like trim the edge for use with a smaller dog? Are you sure the collar strap doesn't just wind around the edge of the device? All of the e-collars I have seen the collar strap is removable/replaceable. The antenna if they have one is also clearly visible and not part of...

Just depends on what ditch they come from.

    Just made reservations

I'm not an older guy, but I totally get what you're saying. I love hunting the same area with the same group for the past 8ish years. But if its just me, once I figure out the birds/region I love discovering new areas.

Do we need to get away from plastic ?

That's a great question. I'd be curious what the actual environmental impact is. Obviously they are unsightly, but is that the extent of their impact? Did the paper hulls have a performance limitation or was the switch just made for cost/manufacturing ease? I don't know if we have any ammo...

    2025 season reports

Great looking dog, well except he doesn't have any battlescars yet. He'll grow into those. Wait until he brings back a running cripple, not much can match that feeling.

Iowa hunters, how was your opener?

6 of the 8 hens were sitting in the shade of 10-15ft cedars 1:30 in the afternoon. It was a bit warm so it made sense, but I've never seen them up under the trees like that.

Iowa hunters, how was your opener?

I wasn't able to get out yesterday and today I hunted south instead of north. I flushed 8 hens in the afternoon and never saw a rooster. My favorite spots are on the other side of Lake Red Rock and the bridge is closed for construction.

Gofund me, for a member here

Every picture with the shotgun Honey is looking away, the one without that abomination (kidding) she almost looks at the camera.

    Iowa Public Trip

Iowa DNR does a report. This year the report is really good, but even with the good "Iowa numbers" it still won't be the same as most of SD.

    Iowa public opener

Sadly true, it's amazing how much that changes by the second weekend.

    Iowa public opener

More birds in Minnesota anyway, stay home ;).

    Iowa public opener

That is probably the hardest hit area of the state for hunters, with good reason. I have found it has higher amounts of public ground and higher bird counts, but also the most hunters being so close to the "great lakes" and all the hospitality. Plenty of our northern neighbors come visit too. I...

    Spring Run

I'll be in that area Nov. 7th. I'll keep it in mind for sure. Thanks for the report. @McFarmer how is the harvest going, are the fields likely to be empty by then?

SW ND: Lots Of Corn & Seeds Still Up

Glad I'm not the only one struggling. My dogs have enjoyed running them out of the sunflower fields, but that hasn't equaled shot opportunities. Is it just me or do they run more on these wet misty days?
