When was the golden age of pheasant hunting?

I played baseball at Indian Hills in the early 2000’s. Wasnt many birds around then. Everyone was deer crazy. Still an awesome area though.

    Slip on recoil pad-stock treatment

Id love to put real pads on, but I need to add lop to 2-3 guns so trying to have a quick cheap fix. I threw a cheap slip on pad on a cheap o/u that I dont care much about kind of as a test run. Probably pull it off after season.

    Slip on recoil pad-stock treatment

Does it do any good or is there a wax or something I can put on a stock that has a slip on pad to prevent discoloration?

New A5 Sweet 16 Cast off or neutral - What’s your preference?

Cast off for sure. I checked my poi in a new to me semi auto this summer and it was off. I fixed it with cast off and now I have a ton my confidence, been shooting better, same sight picture every time I shoulder it. I checked every gun I own and the ones that feel the best to me are the ones...

    Late Season Hunt

You can still find the motels with the exterior doors. Just go to your nearest strip club and follow the ladies to their hotel at closing time. Yes, it’s creepy, but theyll take you directly to the kind of place youre looking for.

    Looking for a New O/U

If I did it over, I would look for a lighter citori. Mines 8+ so I never carry it.

    Victor Dog Food

I just dropped about 90 bucks onthe high protein inuskshuk. Im feeding half that, half her old food. Worked up to that ratio. I didnt go into the feed store to drop that kind of coin but i figured id give it a shot. He claimed its the highest protein/fat content available. She was on this for...

    New Strap Vest

i like the looks of that. I bought a Rogers last year and Im not a huge fan. I like those big molded pockets on that, Id just leave a zipper open on my left side. The Rogers vest has flat pockets with snaps, not a fan. I also cant reach the water bottle without looking like im trying to hula hoop.

    A5 16gauge

You may find more of your birds if you spent more. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

    Roger’s Toughman boots

I haven't had them on outside yet. It’s been single digits with snow but still wearin uninsulated boots and merino wool. These will be for coyote calling and jamuary birds.

    Old school

Maybe the birds are wearing camo and thats why you cant find them….

    Old school

The simple answer is dont hunt stuff you know you are incapable of recovering birds from.

Semi repost: what is everyone's layering system

It’s taken idk how many years, but I have finally went to a merino wool top, socks and hat. No more cotton. It has to go below zero for me to car about the warmth of my legs, so i havent spent money on that yet. Main thing is when you get out of the truck to start a spot, be cold. If you...

    Old school

I spent over 20 minutes looking for a bird a few days ago, encouraging the pup who kept giving up on it. Finally, I heard wings flap and then silence. GPS had her 100 yards away. Walked to her and she is laying on it in a pile of feathers. It wasnt tore up, but dead. Wouldve liked to see...

    Old school

I check every box except the Suburban and the bus. I load my pointer into her crate in the back of my Toyota wearing her gps collar with my orange hat on. I played grab ass with my wife this afternoon too….fondue was involved…

    Roger’s Toughman boots

Danner Pronghorns are comfortable, but they are absolute junk. And they have doubled in price.

    Am I crazy?

If they do the old school fling ounce balls of lead all over the countryside drives like they did when I was growing up, I sure as hell wouldn't be anywhere near timber.

    Roger’s Toughman boots

I’ll answer my own topic. These went on sale on black Friday for 60 bucks so I bought them. Just wearing them around the house, they are really comfortable. True to size, maybe even a little big, especially width. Could wear really thick socks with these. Very stiff, completely made of...
