Record birds 2024. I only read half the article

The first thought is more birds? But there are probably a number of things. A long season which includes allowing hunters the evening golden hour. Accessible public ground groomed for hunting . And last but not least tourism/non resident hunter. The S.D. Pheasant hunt is on many bucket lists.

    How would you hunt this?

No doubt some will get by you but you are hunting them not trying to eradicate them.🙂

    How would you hunt this?

Not being argumentative but..... a experienced dog works the wind no matter which way you are going.

    How would you hunt this?

I always try and hunt down and back and down and back to push the birds to the end.

    Spring wild turkey

Friend has some turkeys on her property and the gf&p asked if they could do mentored youth hunts? She was happy to accommodate them and they share pics of kids and their 1st birds. On a side note my nephew has fallen in love with archery hunting them. He said it is so exciting to call one in...

    Rain Dance

Around Brookings it hasn't been near enough. Under a 1/2" a couple of times but warm/hot temps with wind this next week aren't going to do anyone any favors.

    Land prices.

It's funny I remember when there was a magazine article about "Silicone Valley wealth" driving up land prices in Iowa. Seems that kids moved to Silicone Valley made stupid money and ran up land prices back home. They had the money and why not put it into expanding the family farm. So we have...

    Land prices.

This ground will probably sell for around 12000 a acre. A neighbor who farmed it said never got over 120 bushel per acre. Isn't this all just absurd?

    Land prices.

So i have a friend looking at buying some more ground as a investment with recreation/hunting as a bonus. He was telling me about the ground which is not in a area of good ground. Rolling ground and little top soil think pasture ground. He says the land has been renting for 325 a acre. I said...

    Reloading question

The 3" shells will chamber but when they go off the crimped area expands out of the chamber area into the barrel. Can create dangerous pressure. I would advise against it.

So i ask everyone i see that has been to the banquet and the only complaint I here is "They need more bartenders". Those new to the event especially women comment they are pleasantly surprised how many women are in attendance. We had 50 paid sponsors no show which is probably common to get...

Hard to believe this ? even came up. I thought everyone knew that you can name all dogs with the same beginning letter EXCEPT for M. They are dogs not M and M's. 😉

Well we had another great banquet. Every year it grows bigger and last night was our biggest. I ask friends who wouldn't normally attend to volunteer and to a person they all say that was fun I will gladly do it again for you.

Glad your area supports pf. We do encourage businesses from contractors to boutiques, retail stores, bars restaurants, and service providers to be sponsors and attend the event. I tell everyone come once and you will be back. Many first timers do return with friends. We have a seperate area...

    Brookings County Pheasants Forever 3/18/25

Today went and bought another 8 guns for our banquet. 9 sponsors buying 1200.00 worth of rooster bucks which are used like cash at the raffles. We may hit our ambitious goal of 250 sponsors. I have been telling the committee 250 for 2 years and they have been laughing at me like I am crazy...
