    Long Distance Traveling for Birds

I don't "go camping" unless I can plug in my electric blanket.

    Turn out the lights

Are there huntable quail populations on BLM land near and around Carlsbad to make the 500+ mile trip worthwhile? Have thought about it for years but been hesitant because of hunting alone at 75 yrs w/my GSP. Give me a reason to come. 😊 Thanks

    Hunt the Cheyenne River Reservation?

Just be careful of these fellas. Saw him while out hunting. Fortunately it was far from my GSP.

    Hunt the Cheyenne River Reservation?

No road hunting allowed. Plenty of birds but you have to work for them. If you do it right your "dogs will be hurting" at the end of the day. A problem w/all Grouse hunting is that they normally flush 50 - 60+ yds ahead, but occasionally they will hold for you. I found it to be a blast the last...

    Hunt the Cheyenne River Reservation?

One other thing I forgot to mention, you do not need an Indian guide, it is all self guided. Also, was stopped by the Rez game Warden who checked my licence the first year. A big ole boy but friendly. The first words out of his mouth were "can I see your licence." I thought he might of said are...

    Hunt the Cheyenne River Reservation?

As a matter of fact I've hunted Grouse on the Rez the last 2 yrs from the end of Sep to the 1st of Oct for ten days. I live in Oklahoma but have a trailer at Bob's Resort and stay there while hunting. I average about 1 - 1 1/2 birds a day. Being a poor shot doesn't help your average. Some days...

    Nephew

Been patiently waiting for someone to bust loosey goosey's chops!! Have to agree w/Davod0311. This is very old and what's worst, most everyone eggs it on. The old man (gm) still thinks people cares what he says. Ha, ha .👎👎 Two thumbs down. Too much time on his hands!!

Something new at Drummond Flats - WMA

This morning while hunting at Drummond Flats I shot my 4th rooster of the season. GunnR was working out to my left when he pointed, I moved in but the wily rooster wasn't having it as he was on the move. GunnR worked the area as I just stood and watched, in short order he pointed again this time...

Something new at Drummond Flats - WMA

Got out today at 8:45a.m. Walked 1 1/2 - 2 hrs, GunnR pointed a rooster, dropped a leg on the first shot, dropped him on the second. He pointed a second rooster but had my safety on and by the time I got it off it was too far. Hey, I'm not complaining though, after all this is north central...

Something new at Drummond Flats - WMA

Arrived at Drummond Flats around 8:30 am. Parked in the car lot, let the dog out (GSP) to do his business. He rides in the back seat of my station wagon. I was unzipping my shotgun case as well as getting water for the hunt. I thought it a little odd GunnR never returned to the car to wait on...

    Most creative/memorable No Trespassing/Posted signs.

Just saw one posted a fence pole near Gettysburg, SD this past week while pheasant hunting from Oklahoma: "Caution" "There's nothing in here that is worth your life." I kept driving..

    Most creative/memorable No Trespassing/Posted signs.

The one among many that was the most memorable was posted on a Salvage Yard fence that said, "anyone found here at night will be found here in the morning." That'll get your attention..
