If I lived in Montana, and the roosters were that plentiful on private land, I might pull the hurt leg trick too! My 3 favorites birds: - The 3 legged beast from the first farm. - The one checking out his "hurt" leg in the 2nd one. - The one at the 4th place, wondering who dumped mud on the hood!

Sometimes the mud ends up on the truck, I guess.

I have to say, I had no idea how big the roosters in Montana are, until I saw the proof above. The commensurately slower flushes and target size must make it a lot easier to limit up there. I don't think I'd want to tangle with the 3 legged beast from that first farm.

Report for December 4th, 2024, SW MN, public land hunt. Drove through wintery mix coming down, in the metro, which slowed traffic. Didn't start the hunting until about 10:20 AM. It was supposed to be 25 mph average wind speed. They lied! And then they adjusted the "forecast" to be 34 mph...

My shots feel wrong when the bird keeps going, untouched. Got a big dose of feeling wrong today in the mini hurricane, in SW MN.
