I shot a white rooster once at a game farm when I was a kid.

    Hunting accident in Harvey County

Safety never comes off unless birds are in the air and it is going up to the shoulder. Can't believe anyone would do otherwise.

    Pheasant Breakfast Sausage

I've made venison breakfast sausage twice. I buy a pork butt and make it about 3:1 venison to pork ratio. Both times I have used the LEM Breakfast sausage seasoning. Turned out very well.

    TSS any good?

I use TSS 9s turkey hunting. Deadly. I did make a not so good shot on one last year and he had some pellets under the skin. Now I know 7s would be much bigger and probably penetrate through and through but I could see where using that smaller shot could get you a trip to the dentist.

    Let's talk cattail strategies

Maybe they aren't very suitable with a pointing dog. Flusher would definitely be better.

    Let's talk cattail strategies

This year I'd say move through them however you can. Never seen anything like it. Over my head and unable to get to my dog in most cases. The ones we were around and in required a deer trail for most part to move through. Many areas were physically impossible to move through.

North Central South Dakota Report 11/20 - 11/24

We lost a few in the cattails today. Insane how thick they are. Nothing like last year. Head high in lots of places. Lots of birds though. It was difficult getting my dog to me. Don’t think he was being stubborn. Just had trouble finding me when I needed him to hunt dead. We would’ve...

    Remote bird Launcher

We bought some quail a few weeks ago and it was cartoonish. One popped up in the air and fell straight back down. Almost worthless. Pigeons are great because they're up and away and fly high and strong. Can't believe in all my years of messing with pointing dogs I have just now started using...

    Remote bird Launcher

New pup this year. First time using launchers. I have two of the DT launchers. Work great and yes it does help with training. I also started using homing pigeons. They're second to none as far as birds go. Launch a few birds in a session and they're back inside the loft shortly.

Man that will make for a tough opener on those Kansas roads. Worst situation I’ve ever found myself in a vehicle. Never again.

    And thus it begins

I tend to like more traditional bird dog colors but was in the market for a pup and he was the only one left in the litter. He is going to make a very fine dog. Very happy with my pick.

Go get em! I like the dog. I have an 11 month old all black GSP as well! His first season. Wondering how long it will take to hear someone ask what happened to my lab's tail.

    Non Toxic requirements

No assumptions here. Just would hate to drive by a great looking spot and not be able to hunt it. We hunted mostly CREP and WIA last year but hit one WPA that was loaded. And I'll for sure use lead where allowed.
