    The End of Season

Yes sir. Even when there’s frost on the grass you still stir up dust.

    The End of Season

I managed to free myself up for a three day closing season Kansas hunt. My hunting partner and I agreed to stay through Monday to finish out our season. Since it snowed on Thursday we thought there was a chance some snow on the ground but when I got to my home away from home there was less than...

Footage Late Season Colorado Pheasant Hunt

Kiva, It was a productive hunt. You spent time out with the dog and learned a few things that you’ll probably do differently next time. Late season roosters are tough. I find it takes a lot more strategy than just a waltz through the grass. Good video! Matt

55 Degrees in January isn't Ideal. We still had some Success.

Walk, Looked like a great hunt with a mixed bag. Weather has been tough this year. Hunted on Sunday with temps close to 60 where we were. Birds just spread out and get tough to find at those temps. Great video! Matt

Better Shooting - A Colorado Limit

Walk, Great video as always. Tough year to limit on pheasants so major kudos to you and your team. My love hate relationship ended with the GoPro (an original Hero) laying dormant for three years. Just bought an AKASO camera. I might be able to get it to work as it has a touch screen. Going...

Marshall Fire- lost 30 years of hunting and fishing gear

I am very sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine your loss. Glad that you were all safe. Powder Valley has both Little Gun and Longshot in stock at a reasonable price. Can’t help with the MECs but will keep my eyes peeled. Primers will be a stretch rarer than hens teeth right now. What...

    Poor Shooting

Walk, Two tips I can make to a wing shooter. #1 — Practice mounting the gun at home. Do this for at least 10 -20 minutes once a week during season. Pick a spot on the wall and throw the gun up. I like corners of where walls and ceilings meet. You then can turn slightly away from that point...

    Best rural eats

Yeah they make some good eats. In the summer there is another guy who makes elephant ears and fresh lemonade.

Is that the taco truck in the motor vehicle parking lot?

    Heading to Kansas

You are correct blaze is only required for deer hunters. I wear a blaze orange ball cap when I hunt pheasants. Go back to brown tones when I chase prairie chickens.

    Opening Weekend in Kansas

Agreed. Three dogs walked 9 miles and flushed two hens and a single rooster that got up a 80 yards. Worst I have ever hunted.

    Heading to Kansas

If you can’t get yourself out it’s best to knock on doors and see if somebody can get you yanked out.

    Heading to Kansas

As to road conditions especially in NWKS is: IF IT LOOKS BLACK TURN BACK. Find another way in or pass on the spot. One of my best spots is like that. Any moisture it turns to pure hell. Clothing is just like everybody has mentioned. Bring every combo and you’ll end up just wearing a...

    How many birds each season?

I hunt pheasants at least 12 weekends per season and average 4 miles a day. Some easy walking some tough I walk mostly large CRP tracks just following the dogs. It is all public access. I will tell you that on Monday morning I'm pretty stiff and it takes a bit to get moving. Never hunt more...

    SW Nebraska opener

Ran into the same thing. Very few birds. Most CRP had been hayed. Ran into a varying mix of cut and standing crops. The wind didn’t help either. Sign was sparse as well. Managed to put two roosters in the bag about 6 hours apart and separated by 60 road miles. Encountered a few...

She is not a Double TT. Reed is my last name. I just wanted all R’s in her name but the wife demanded the Foxy part.
