Seems I whiff most often when hunting with a witness...over a perfect point by my dog. At least last week both buddy and I whiffed..."let's not talk about this" was best response I could muster.
Agree Goose, hunting eastern MT and it is ridiculously dry. Tough scenting but easy to keep track of the dog... watch for dust clouds! Putting on a lot more boot miles avoiding driving on grassy 2 tracks spot to spot.
Look at the tail of each bird...chicken has a squared or box tail, not pointed like a hen. At least that's what I watched for, in addition to wingbeats, when they flushed in NE.
