    Bacon Ranch Pheasant Burger Sandwich

The three bird, breast and thighs with 1lb bacon yielded 8 good sized patties. My son and his buddy really liked them, they added cheese on theirs. Son wants to make some and free to take back to school with him. Again thanks for sharing the recipe.

    Bacon Ranch Pheasant Burger Sandwich

Here was my test burger. Did 3 birds breast and thighs with 1lb of bacon. Not sure on the ranch amt might be a bit light. I didn't use a packet we had a big jug of it. I really like it!

    Hunting with a brittany dog

I have had Brits my whole and every one has hunted until 12 or 13 generally and all hunted up til they passed. Yeah they can't go for 5 days but a half day with rest. My expectations of them shifted as well, I didn't push them into hard/thick cover, I let them make that choice. I have a 9.5...

    Dinners served

They were very good, just have to watch for flare ups. One Thanksgiving I did bacon wrapped pheasant and my son informed me the grill had flames coming out it. Needless to say our dinner was ruined.

Couple other ways I've fixed pheasant, brined the breast then added a rub and bacon wrapped, glazed some with a honey mustard. The bottom pic is smoked pheasant and wild rice soup.

    Tail talk 😄

But just think of the Jackson Pollock master pieces the bloody long tail could create on your walls!!!!!! Been their done that, wife was not impressed. Once my current longtails retire to pheasant heavens I will stick with the bobtails.

Here's a really good tip I figured out

I have had the same experience as you Bob, I think alot of times when the dogs are working/trailing birds on the move they get locked in on the hottest sent and other birds split away from the danger and the dogs continue their pursuit and either flush or point the bird(s) they were tracking. I...

I have done the same and yes very juicy and excellent best way to do the birds in my opinion, if you are doing whole skinless birds.

Looking for a new to me 28 gauge. Reccomendations.

I used those in my first trip this year to SD and they were great out of my 1100 out to 35 to 40 yds. In fact ordered more for my trip coming up.

Experiences going from one bird dog to two?

I have 3 dogs, pointing breeds, and generally run them together in the first field to burn energy off, they hunt well together 18 month, 7 & 9 yrs. The trouble is my older dog will start to track and slows her pace down to where I can easily follow, the younger dogs haven't learned this and...

    Using wind

I try to hunt into the wind if possible or at least cross wind. I think birds are more flighty in the wind especially if they see one flush then they all start to flush ahead. I also think in the high winds 20 plus scenting is more difficult for the point dogs but if/when they do point it is...
