If I clean the birds same day I save hearts and livers. If I hang them I usually don’t. As for cooking I either fry or grill and they are yummy either way.

I’ve had great luck with the Mendota skid plate but am intrigued by the cuga might try one out as the skid plates are about 5 years old and showing their age.

I would advise making sure you and your dogs have orange on and try to avoid the timbered areas. Other than that I hunt every year during rifle season and haven’t had any issues. Thinking of trying the nc area myself this weekend. Haven’t been there in a few years.

I try to get out west during rifle season. I feel much safer out there where I can see and be seen vs being hidden in brush.
