Sweet 16 blows up using Boss ammo

Theres been several reports of it on FB, boss always says its the gun fault. That stuff is too hot, way too hot.. it pings my Beretta, slams the bolt back so hard it makes a ringing sound (never had another shell do that).. and kicks hulls about 5 full feet farther than anything else. Not to...

Help on a special kind of wild pheasant.

The pheasants forever groups or boyscouts sometimes do youth hunts for youth season and they buy and plant birds on the public lands, often mix in a few black ones for that special touch

    IHAP experiences

The couple by me get absolutely pounded with people. Especially during dove season, the dnr likes to put dove plots on them now for some reason. The few ive hunted during dove season were full of roosters, but after a couple hundred people dove hunting and then an entire road full of trucks for...

    Ammo in cold weather

This definitely leads me to believe your gun has a weak firing pin, the cold is just setting it over the edge. If it was an ammo issue, all of them would have FTF

    Ammo in cold weather

15 isnt cold enough to severely alter ammo performance in modern factory ammo. Once you get to -15 then you start having primer failures. All loads will be slow at cold temps, but you wont get a FTF at those temps. Im guessing its a firing pin clearance issue due to metal shrinkage (or weak...

    TSS any good?

Just be aware it patterns extremely tight. The stoeger shoots terrible patterns which is why i have to shoot LM over SK. In my Beretta i shoot cylinder choke out to 35yds. Its actually kind of a bad thing, it means i can't mix and match shells (a lead shell then a tss) because the choking is so...

    TSS any good?

Here is a pic i just found that i took of the new bismuth recovered from geese. You can see its whole but is deformed, this is #5 size

    TSS any good?

I really have no idea what the alloy is other than they say its USFW non tox approved. The pellet count is lower than the other two bismuth I have loaded with (rotometals and boss).

    TSS any good?

The bismuth we use is 9.75 instead of the 9.45-9.55 of most. I have shot 4 boxes of it in the last month and have had ZERO, and i truly mean ZERO fractured pellets recovered. I have recovered a couple dozen whole pellets up against breast bone or in the gut cavities (mallards and canada geese)...

    TSS any good?

#4 and #3/5. The standard stuff they claim doesn't fracture due to the copper coating.

    TSS any good?

Every single duck or goose I have cleaned in the last two years. Every. Single. One. From 3 different shooters. Both factory and reloaded shells using their shot. Most every other waterfowler I have talked to has experienced the same and have moved on from their products. Havent cleaned any...

    TSS any good?

It is actually tin plated, but i believe it has to do with the alloy.

    TSS any good?

It doesnt shatter into shards when it hits the bird, is completely round, and is denser (heavier).

    Pheasant Breakfast Sausage

Glad to see more guys getting in on the meat grinder game! I bet pheasant brats (or any cased sausage) are very good. Id treat them like deer and cut 50/50 with pork butt and use natural hog casings. I have a commercial stuffer so making sausages are super easy, i am not sure how well a grinder...

    How tough are these birds?

Most all wildlife are tough as can be, nature has a way of fixing itself!

    TSS any good?

Take a look at salt creek ammo, they have some special loads for old guns. If they arent on his website, you can contact and ask about custom loadings. Hes super nice to work with and as far as bismuth goes, he uses the same shot I do and it is by far the best on the market. Night and day way...

    TSS any good?

I am going to say yes, i personally would not risk it as tss is much much harder than steel. However... The british have been loading it in lead shot wads and claim since the pellets are so small (7-10) that it doesnt score barrels. On the other hand, in the USA TSS is loaded commercially in...

    TSS any good?

Im shooting 3/4oz 9s at 1490fps. No shot in birds yet, although all close shots. Im shooting skeet and LM chokes, which is a 30 and 35yd setup in my gun. If I go LM/IM its 35yd 50yd+ (it has adequate penetration to about 80yd). Im not going to shoot a pheasant that far, but i guess its there if...

    Rising straight away shot

Figuring a 25 yard shot, your poa should be a foot in front of the bird then adjusted for lead from there. Any case a rising going away bird should be completely covered by the barrel, otherwise you are shooting tail feathers.
