Sounds like a wonderful trip and many good memories, glad to hear about Remi’s succes . Is this her second or 3 rd Hunting season ? I will be anxious to here about Vera’s progress . I have found the breeder for my new Brittany and should be getting her later this spring .

Head on up to South Dakota , Kansas still holding its own for Quail , but much less of a pheasant destination anymore . Substantial loss of CRP and an emphasis from the state on deer hunting and some bad drought years and ditch to Ditch farming has taken its toll on the Pheasant Numbers .

Just returned from Montana and I regularly ran two dogs , the country is big there and I feel like there were times I could have used a few more . Dogs worked good together and handled mainly with hand signals and a page / vibration from my Dogtra collar .

We sure enjoyed our time in Montana last week , it was warm 0ver 80 and I think it got to 90 one of the days we were there . We made the most of it when the weather cooled .

I am guessing you are referring to Prairie Chickens , my experience is the cover is thinner and lighter and you got the whole flock watching out for danger . I would be curious if anybody has further input ?

I tried a few spots I hadn’t hunted that I thought should be good with very little bird contact , The wind was coming up and I could feel the front start moving in . I was thinking 3 late season Roosters with 3 shots was pretty good for as tough of time as I have had getting on bird this year ...

I was able to get out today 1 -11-24 for a hunt in the Western part of the state on public land , I was hunting the day before a major incoming weather event. This incoming weather event and about 4 inches of snow on the ground seemed to sure help out with birds holding . I hunted this same area...
