    Colorado Ballot Initiative 91

Knew the state origin of those pushing it before you even had to say it. A cancer on the nation. Not all, but many.

    Must Haves?

Good list. In addition to the list above, I add the following: Dog first aid - both essentials in the field and a bigger kit for the truck Tweezer kit - different sizes and styles for plucking things out of paws, noses, gums, etc. Headlamps w/ extra batteries - far easier than using a handheld...

    Passing through SD…Pheasants Galore

I was just in South Dakota last week and drove south from the North Dakota border to Aberdeen. I spent the next two days driving ~375 miles around a three county area scouting public land and counted exactly 24 hens and one rooster. From there, I went through Pierre and then to points west...

    Garmin Garmin ALPHA 300 + TT25 vs. Dogtra PATHFINDER2

Have been running the Dogtra T&B DUAL 2-DOG collar for a few years now for hunting (and training), and the only gripe is the lack of range. Considering upgrading to GPS-enabled collars for our two GWPs given the range seems much better and I sort of like the idea of tracking the dogs throughout...

    solo hunting

Not even a big group of liberals who like beer, chocolate, and spending money? Honest question based on several of your previous posts in other threads.

    solo hunting

This makes a lot of sense. Perhaps the best rational I've heard for being as quiet as possible, and avoiding continuous noise (beeping, talking, etc.).

    Using wind

I find my dogs tend to range further on really windy days if the situation dictates hunting with the wind. Can't always get the perfect situation with the wind in your face. Prefer hunting into it or at least having it coming from the side whenever possible.

    Challenging Season in Colorado

Thanks for sharing. Frankly, I'm amazed that you found six roosters in Colorado.

    solo hunting

I am as quiet as possible (no slamming doors, no yelling, quietly loading shotguns, trying to keep the dog whining to a minimum, etc.) and I like hunting with others who do the same. However, the idea that yelling "Hen!" botches a hunt seems silly. As Remy noted, once you fire your first shot...

Irish Setter 9" Wingshooter Size 10.5 Men's Boot For Sale - Like New

I'm selling a very lightly used pair of Irish Setter 9" Wingshooter size 10.5 D Men's Boots that my son hunted in 3 times last season. The boots were purchased new in Sept. 2022 are in excellent condition, and were treated with Red Wing Neatsfoot Oil leather cream after every use. I'm only...

    Late November Report

Despite a tough opening weekend, we headed out the week of Thanksgiving to an area much further south and east than we'd hunted before. It was a gamble, and the cover was limited and thin but we managed to find roosters. The weather was great when we left home and the forecast looked good for...

    Footage: Late season Colorado Limit

Nicely done! Great hunt, great footage. It's been really tough in Colorado so to see you bag a limit late season is VERY encouraging.

    Nebraska bird info request

I would agree with the previous post regarding the SW and the panhandle. I walked a LOT of miles this season and ended up with a few birds. Saw a lot of hens, which I find encouraging but roosters were few and far between.

Opening Weekend – Report from Western NE

@remy3424 CO does have pheasant hunting but it’s been worse (public land anyway) than NE the past few years IMO (drought, little real CRP, everything cut to nothing, etc.). Plus, there are far fewer hunters in western Nebraska than there are in eastern Colorado in my experience. If I’m gonna...
