I've heard Kansas is making a comeback too. I like hunting in IA. The area I hunted in the past had small fields and too close to roads but I still deer hunt there every now and then when I can get a tag.

After careful consideration, I know where I'm going. Cleaning out my truck from last weeks hunt and loading it back up. I can't go till the end of the month and if the weather holds, I'll throw my dogs in the back seat and take off. If this doesn't work...I'm moving to Canada.

I hunted behind a dog with a Dogtra beeper collar last week. I can attest that it is extremely loud and could be used as a tornado warning system in an emergency. I do like Dogtra products though....just not a fan of beeper collars. I have a Garmin 550+ and it does everything I need it to do.

The only thing I do in Kansas is drive through it but I have friends that hunt it.

Iowa would be closer to me but I only bird hunt in IA when I buy a license to turkey or deer hunt. I can use the same license...so it's pretty cost effective. Not a lot of public land where I go and the fields are relatively small, but it's someplace to go for a long weekend.

I recently hunted with a guy with a beeper collar on his dog. IMO, they aren't needed hunting on open grassland and prairie....they push wild birds....they have to be hard on dogs hearing and most importantly they annoy the living hell out of me.
