    Cattle

I questioned a rancher in N.D. once about how the birds out there survived the blizzards. He said the pheasants were the 1st to come to the cows and hay bales. Sharptails 2nd and the Huns last. He also said that the deer ruined some stacked round bales. lived on them for a while.

Yup. Bad snow and them and turkeys will be picken corn from the cow pies. Adds a different flavor to the meat though.

    Steady to Flush/Shot Follow Up?

The only con to steady to wing and shot is that a cripple has a big head start. The other problem is it's difficult to maintain if you hunt with anyone whose dogs are not steady. And even if you do have a very solid dog that will honor other dogs retrieve. It's not going to get to many retrieves...

    2025 gear review...what worked and what didn't?

I still have my 1st pair of Meindle Ultralight's. Wore them yesterday. Still feel good but leak now if it's wet. I have another pair that I've worn a couple times to make sure there's no hot spots. I don't see them on their website, but they have Euro Lites that will be my next pair.

Ever gotten in trouble while outdoors alone?

A couple buddies and I were duck hunting when we see a couple hundred mallards on a slew across the river. We plotted and schemed until we came up with the bright Idea to cross it. Our local river isn't the Mississippi, but it is a couple hundred yards wide. When it's near flood levels as it was...

Ever gotten in trouble while outdoors alone?

This one's not on that level but it reminded me of one. Coon hunting miles from the truck through heavy timber and brush. Walking pretty fast to see what my wire was fighting and rammed a stick in my good eye. I'm blind in one so I thought I was in trouble. I sat down on the ground and when I...

    talk me into a gun

I've only have one 28, but I can't imagine one better than my Ugartechea. Maybe prettier, but not better. Mine doesn't have a model # on it but I think it's a model 30. mod and full.

Ever gotten in trouble while outdoors alone?

I've had to many close calls to mention. I did a lot of stupid crap in my younger days. My wife doesn't think I'm all that smart now! Some that come to mind are, could have easily drowned twice, hopelessly lost in the Minnesota wilderness, blew an A.C.L. in the middle of the National forest.

    20 guage auto?

Beg to differ Bob. As I said, my buddy and I bought new Beretta 686 ultralights at the same time. I ported mine he didn't. We were shooting skeet one day and swapped guns. I could tell a difference in kick and muzzle jump and so could he. So, I wonder if It's the lighter guns that it makes the...
