    weekend reports!!

I made my first eastern CO trip as a 2-day jaunt on Dec. 18 and 19 with my 11 yr old lab Brady and a buddy with his two springers-11 and 4. In our first field (private) we put up a mixed group of about 8 at fairly long range. I could not make a proper ID so did not shoot. He missed one long shot...

Did your lab take to the goggles very well? I can't keep them on my labs.

    Pheasant Breakfast Sausage

I second, or third, the idea of grinding pheasant for sausage as my wife will eat it that way. I also cut it up for chili supplements and have made pheasant pot pies that turned out very good.

    Geezer Hunt

Yes, this. I will block when I need to if nobody else is volunteering. But since I have two labs-usually alternating them-I usually am a marcher. I'm just a middle-aged geezer-72. I hunt primarily for my dogs Tom

    Dog Breed Popularity

It is sure hard to believe that the French Bulldog tops the list now. I sure never see them around. I wonder where they all are. Maybe it's an east coast/west coast thing, and not a Colorado thing.

    New addition to the pack

So who else is still in the pack? Parker on the left is 13 and retired. Brady on the right is 10 and still hunting fine. New pup is also a yellow pointing lab, Tucker, now 2. He has done great hunting but he and Brady still knock heads around the house.

    Phillips County report

My two 2-day trips to the Yuma and Holyoke areas the last few weeks were pretty similar . Both trips were just me and one or another of my labs and about 50/50 private and WIA. Really good cover and very few birds. I missed one medium/ long shot. One of those days was with 2" of fresh snow. That...

    And So It Begins Again

My 12 mo. old lab pup Tucker could win blue ribbons for badgering our other two labs, counter surfing, sock/slipper stealing, and barking.

    Your favorite pheasant O/U

Bob, consider the new model (last 10 years or so) Win 101. My fair weather pheasant gun is a maple stocked 12g 101 that weighs 7 lbs 1 oz. My fouls weather pheasant gun is a Browning Maxus camo composite that weighs 7 lbs 2 oz. The maple 101 was about $400 more than the walnut 101 but it called...

    And So It Begins Again

Good luck with the new pup. I hope he turns out calmer than my 10 mo old wild child Tucker.
