I have a stoeger m3020 as a back up and would recommend. It's never let me down and fires even the cheapest shells just fine.

I have their vest too and no complaints. I bought a browning branded one be careful with it. It tore the inside of my Shorthairs legs apart they were raw for weeks.

I shot a wild boar a few years ago with my 9mm and 125 grain zombie killer ammo. It wasn't a huge hog but both shots went clean through. So I think it would stop any man walking the earth haha

She might stop the older she gets at 5 months she is still pretty young. They make some harness things for quail and pigeons that have some studs on them keeps the dogs from really biting down.

How does the heat affect the quail species out there? Are they more drought and heat tolerant?

Do you really notice the extra recoil when shooting at birds? I don't really feel the recoil or remember any of it if I'm actually shooting at game. Trap or shooting my 300 win mag at the range I feel the recoil. In the field I don't notice.

I don't leave my dog in the truck for long periods. You could look into some battery powered crate fans. I have them on both of my dogs crates. Just in case it's gets hot. I live in Georgia so they are almost always on even when I'm driving.

My local gun store has a good supply of pheasant and game loads for all gauges. Plenty of target ammo too. I have been buying the cheap federal 4 pack boxes of target loads at Walmart they are around $32.00 now.
