    Antique road show

I was forced into it around early 2000's when my workplace went computerized. I remember that I got the curser off the screen and had to go asked someone how to manipulate the mouse around to get it back. Still resisted for a few years, then someone showed me how to get to gunbroker and ebay and...

2024 Season In Pictures, Guns, Game And Dogs

My grandson and I had a great time in an unnamed southwestern state. Had some glitches including both being sick a couple days but persevered. Grandson had never shot at a quail. Missed the 1st shot then proceeded to smack down 22 in basically 2.5 days. Also celebrated his 21st birthday there...

2024 Season In Pictures, Guns, Game And Dogs

I'm starting to look at your pics out of the corner of my eye. I switch guns once and can't hit a bull in the ass with a base fiddle! But you use a different classic every day??? Maybe you really shoot them with a beat up old 1100 and are a master cut and paster instead of a master shotgunner...

    Rabbits

I have two rules. No ground shots. No low shots. I've seen way to many close calls.

    Saw another 105# dog.

I've only seen a couple 100 pounders who were in shape. one was a great Dane, and the other was a great pyranose. both were intimidating. I remember thinking that if I had to give them a shake to discipline, they could easily shake me back.

    Slip on recoil pad-stock treatment

I doubt it. Discoloration of wood is usually caused by sunlight. My experiences have been lighter wood turns dark and darker woods turn light. So I'm not positive but when I see that on older guns, I always think it's the rest of the exposed wood that turned lite, not the wood under the pad that...

    Looking for a New O/U

There are a few manufacturers that produce aluminum alloy framed guns now. I would not recommend one for any of the shooting sports unless you're into that self-harm thing. But You won't find a finer gun than the Beretta. Mine was one of the first off, the boat. Sometime in the 80's. Plain black...

    Land prices.

That's pretty well said and exactly how many of my friends feel. We are all pushing 70 now and they are just plain getting worn down.

    Land prices.

Well, my friend gave in. Him and his wife had tears in their eyes when they told me. Amish neighbor offered him 25 K an acer. He sold everything but the home place house. Can't blame him.

...Closest location to find good numbers of wild quail from the Carolinas?

Kansas is probably your best bet. Don't get your hopes up for shooting the limit there. Skip the walk ins, put the work in and you'll find some birds.

Semi repost: what is everyone's layering system

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but what is it about hunting while it's snowing? I've loved it since I was a kid. I got a nice one in this year.

    Rising straight away shot

You must be an exception up there! When I was up there, folks couldn't believe that I actually got out of the truck to shoot them.
