South dakota (and north) roadside survey.

Same here in most of South Dakota. There were Red Flag warning out the past couple of days that covered a large part of SD and parts of western Minnesota. No rain in the forecast. All hunters will need to be extra cautious this year in the field.

South dakota (and north) roadside survey.

Not sure if you may be referring to my post above or not. I would not say anything on this site that would be protective of an area. I have been living in, and hunting South Dakota for 46 years. I've seen alot in that time and hunted many areas of the state. 33 of those years I lived in...

South dakota (and north) roadside survey.

I really have a difficult time believing there were 37 birds per square mile harvested in Codington County. That would put Codington ahead of counties such as Faulk, Potter, Edmunds & Hand. And just slightly behind Clark and Spink. There is no way in hell that Codington produced more...

    Black Cloud for Pheasant

Just remember that if you use those Black Cloud shells for pheasant to use a more open choke. Probably no more contriction than IC.

South dakota (and north) roadside survey.

I'd like to give my observations from the area around Watertown. At least once a week I ride motorcycle with some friends and we generally cover an area of approximately a 50 mile radius of Watertown. We ride on almost exclusively county roads and stay off main highways. Leaving around 9:00...

    Cardio Tip

I've done that also. I can make her heal by the bike if I have to.

    Cardio Tip

Just be careful. I used to run my dogs with my bike using a 6 ft. lead held very lightly in my left hand. Should the dog jerk or bolt after something the lea would pull out of my hand. At least that was the idea. I was running my currrent dog a few years ago while in Arizona on the streets...

    Pudelpointer Puppies - Minnesota

Funny you should mention Uncle Buck. I haven't seen him on here in years. Appears he hasn't posted since 2017. I have hunted with him a couple of times. Great guy and good dogs. I might have to try and give him a call and see how he is doing.

Tristar Viper G2 or Weatherby Element - Back Up & Rainy Day Gun

Like I said in my above post. If you are looking for a less expensive back-up gun, don't overlook a Stoeger. Both my son-in-law and I bought a Stoeger Auto at least 15 years ago and neither of us has ever had one issue with our guns.

Tristar Viper G2 or Weatherby Element - Back Up & Rainy Day Gun

I have no experience with either gun and I'm sure either would serve you well as a backup. But I would probably lean towards the Weatherby only because it is an Inertia gun while the Tristar is gas operated. Hopefully others on this site that have had some personal experience with these two...

    Hot Beef Commercial

Not the same thing. SOS is chipped beef, or another meat, in a cream sauce poured over toast.

    Hot Beef Commercial

In discussing this issue of the Hot Beef Commercial with some friends and also some internet searching it appears the term "Hot Beef Commercial" is a Minnesota thing. In the Dakotas it appears to go by the name "Hot Beef Combo or Hot Beef Combination". I was in the Millstone Resturant in...

    L. C. Smith side by side 16 ga.

If you are hunting where you can use lead shot and are worried about hi-power shells, I'd try a box of Federal Game Loads in #6 shot at 1,165 fps. They should be fine in your L.C.

    Hot Beef Commercial

It's a midwestern thing. You will find them generally in smaller family owned resturants. Bump's cafe on Hwy 212 in Glencoe, MN has one of the best. https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/wcco-viewers-choice-for-mns-best-commercial-sandwich/

Woolybob, I don't know where you are located but here is a site of some Labs in South Dakota. I think the Smobke boys have some pretty good dogs. https://coteauviewkennels.com/

    Dog scratching constantly

Let's get this thread back on track. It's kind of run off the rails. Read the OP's original post. Try to give him some good advice and stay on subject.

    Dog scratching constantly

I know a lot of cases where fish oil has helped. Also coconut oil. I tried both back when I dog was diagnosed with allergies and it didn't help. Found out later she is allergic to most fish. However, fish meal in her dog food doesn't seem to bother. Go figure!

    Dog scratching constantly

I been through all this with an allergy dog. Changing foods in an attempt to find something that works is a real pain, It takes a few months on each food to know if it's going to work. You might have your dog tested to see what she seems to be most allergic to. Forget the steroid treatments...
