Part of the public land or heavily hunted areas probably demand more stealth behavior. I know our hotspots around here, we use extreme caution to keep the noise down when we jump out. However in a large field walking a quarter or a half mile next to a friend or cousin that you have not seen...

I have the same concerns... Localized hail storms and the drought had to hurt the bird numbers, but a few of my customers are reporting "pockets" of birds similar to normal as they have started harvesting their corn. Too much standing crops left to know for a while.

Big Ed's in Bird City is a 2 hour drive straight north of me, and we drive their a few times per year just to eat a steak. I've eaten lots of steaks, and have never found one better. Be prepared, it's a "hole in the wall"!
